New Music USA
Artistry, Impact, Capacity: the three-tier mantra myself and the rest of the New Voices Opera team had been chanting for the past month in preparation for the submission of our Project Grant 2015 with New Music USA. With our application submitted in early October, we hope to receive financial support for our Spring 2016 Double Bill featuring the operatic works of emerging composers, Maxwell Ramage (Swann’s Love) and Nic Chuaqui (Forest of Dreams)……fingers crossed!
“New Music USA is committed to the vitality of the new music community” (New Music USA: 2012). In achievement of this mission, their reach is expansive and includes several large grant initiatives, NewMusicBox blog, a 24/7 stream of new music viaCounterstream Radio, as well as a digital database compiling comprehensive information of emerging composers and their new musical works.
Chanting its own three-tier mantra: Emergent, Relevant, Opera, the NVO team boldly aligned itself within the sights of New Music USA, an organization whose values are so near to our own. As we seek to make a foot-print upon the modern world of opera and insure its future, we too are “committed to the vitality of the new music community”.
